Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year, my parents came to visit us. It was my first time cooking an entire Thanksgiving dinner by myself (with the exception of dessert, which I left in the capable hands of my Mom, the cheesecake Queen) and I had SO much fun doing it. We had some caramelized Brie for an appetizer, brined and roasted turkey, and all the classics, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, lemon green beans, and brussles sprouts with balsamic reduction and cranberries, and of course WAY too much cheesecake for dessert! It was fabulous!

After dinner, we headed downtown to Gordy's office building to watch the annual lighting of the giant Christmas tree in the circle. It was so fun to watch from above in the cozy heat. There were literally thousands of people crowding the streets and it was SO cold outside, so it really was a fun vantage point.

Gramma and Grandpa of course came bearing gifts! They brought a train table and some train tracks for Jack's birthday. It is such a beautiful table, handmade by Grandpa himself,  and the boys absolutely LOVE it.

Then we set up the Christmas tree. We decided to put it up on an old coffee table because Charlie was pulling EVERYTHING off of the tree. Unfortunately, this didn't really deter him. Oh well, such is life with little ones.... Excited for Christmas!
