At the beginning of the summer, Gordy got to go to Chicago for the day with the other summer associates, and some of the other attorneys. After the business was all taken care of, they did a little shopping, ate lunch at The Purple Pig (yes, I was jealous), and got Garrett's popcorn. I would say that made for a pretty good day.
Carson Boxberger had a BBQ midsummer. It was really fun for me to be able to put some more names with faces. Speaking of faces, check out how incredibly happy this little face is. Nothing like a boy enjoying a chocolate cupcake...
Occasionally, Gordy would need to run into work on a Saturday. Not a big deal at all because we live right across the street. Every once in a while, Jack would get to go into work with Dad. He would keep himself busy coloring on legal paper and playing with the phone... Might we have another future lawyer in our family...? I guess time will tell.
There was a dinner party at Fort Wayne Country Club. Gordy had to fly solo because we didn't have a babysitter for Jack, but the night wasn't a total loss because he enjoyed the excellent company of his coworkers, had a delicious meal, and won the firm putting tournament (which scored him a $100 gift card). Boo-yah, that's my man.
If I had to choose, I would say probably the coolest thing Gordy got to do this summer was go to Ohio to observe a transaction. He was able to spend the entire day with Bruce Boxberger and one of their biggest clients, which would have been cool on its own. BUT, the even COOLER part was that this client FLEW them to their meeting in Ohio, in a HELICOPTER! Taking a helicopter to work certainly beats taking the bus to school...
This client also gave Gordy a tour of his "barn" which happened to be filled with the most amazing cars. I sure wouldn't mind having a barn like that...
