Charlie's Baby Blessing

In our ward, we have a lady who speed writes all the baby blessings down and gives them to the parents. She did this for Jack too, and she does it without anyone even asking her to. How nice is that? We actually recorded both Jack and Charlie's blessings and double checked what she wrote down, and ya know what? She was pretty dang close both times. I wish I could write as fast as her. We did that because we thought it would be nice for the boys to have when they were older. I know I sure wish I knew what my dad said in my baby blessing. Hopefully, the boys will appreciate it one day.

Without further adieu, here is Charlie's blessing for those of you who would like to hear it, but were not able to attend.

Baby blessing of Charles Lake Wilson
September 30, 2012

Blessed by is father, Gordon Wilson
Assisted by Bishop Steve Tait, Grandpa Lake, Mitchell Rickey, Dan Castellano, Kris Leavitt, Jonathan Sweeny, Alex Bohorquez

Our dear, kind Father in Heaven, by the power and authority of the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood we hold, we take this infant in our arms to give him a name and a blessing: And the name by which he shall be known on the records of the church is Charles Lake Wilson.

Charlie, at this time we bless you first and foremost that you can gain a knowledge and a love for your Father in Heaven and your Savior Jesus Christ.  We bless you that you might come to know of the restoration of the gospel, that you might gain a testimony, that you will be a true representative of Christ, a true Christian; that you will love your neighbors as yourself.  We bless you that you will love your family, that you will take full advantage of the resources that you have.

We bless you, that when the time comes, you will be a righteous holder of the priesthood, that you will be able to serve a mission and to find a companion to marry in the temple.  We bless you that you will look to your brother for an example and that you will also be an example to him.

We bless you that you will have a thirst for knowledge and that you can be a leader and a teacher to your fellowmen.   We bless you that as you gain a knowledge of your Heavenly Father and your Savior that you will also gain a knowledge of their love for you, and your eternal and infinite worth.   We bless you that you will look to your mother and her example and learn from everything that she has to offer you. We bless you that you will use your immediate family and extended family as a resource and learn from them and feel their love and learn to love them in return.

This blessing we leave with you in the name of Jesus Christ.   Amen.

It was a beautiful blessing, for a beautiful little boy. So, so happy that we get to have this smiley little man in our family.
